Synchromysticism

Lived/Devil?

As above, so below?-)
Cards on the table here, I don't believe in an entity like the so called "Devil" of Christian mythology, but I just hired the most cringe worthy movie that I can remember ever having put into my DVD player ... but I kind of liked it in some 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes' kind of way, because it was as bad as it was good, in my opinion.
This movie could have been really good with its premise of five strangers who grow to distrust one another as time ticks away and the situation grows more desperate for them all to be rescued.
"A group of people areTrumped trapped in an elevator and the Devil is mysteriously amongst them."
Probably most people's idea of hell:-)
Trouble is it becomes more of a Christian "who done it?", or a "who's the guy making everyone do it", than a movie which could have been better if M. Night Shyamalan had of just put five fundamentalists, including a fundamentalist atheist in a lift and watch them argue over who's god (or lack of one) is the better one.
The movie probably still would have played out pretty much the same, but seemed more realistic, I think;-)
The movie even starts off with a supposed Bible verse that has fans of the movie considering it a "goof" on the movie's IMDB page
Maybe that was a deliberate mistake on the movie maker's part to get people to start thumping Bible quotes at each other;-)
Don't get me wrong here, because M. Night Shyamalan is one of my favourite directors, but I believe that his best work is still to come, although I really liked 'Signs' and 'The Village'
The Hobart Cenotaph with a "red cross" on it.
I wrote a post recently why to me the red cross represents death, whether it is facing up, or down -
Hacksaw Ridge and the Red Cross of Death?
And of course, most of us in modern western society have come to see an upside-down red cross, or just an upside-down cross as a symbol of satanism.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
'Devilis littered with symbolsmetaphors and "spiritual" numbers, but almost to the point of over-kill, pardon the pun.
42?
Life's a gamble
?
A personal synchronicity here was I went down to Blockbuster to get a copy of 'Julie and Julia' to watch because of the Jane Lynch book I had just read and only grabbed a copy of 'Devil' because I had a "five movies for five dollars" offer -
Jane Lynch and the Two Carols
Jane Lynch in 'Julie and Julia'
I had no idea until I had watched both movies that Chris Messina was a main star in both films.
Chris Messina was also in 'An Invisible Sign' a film about numbers.
"Mona Gray is a 20-year-old loner who, as a child, turned to math for salvation after her father became ill.
As an adult, Mona now teaches the subject and must help her students through their own crises."
The funny thing is that MONA is the name of an art gallery/museum in Hobart, Tasmania, which has a red cross in its cinema and is the museum/art gallery that has two crosses for its logo, one representing sex, and one death -
MONA: Sex X and Death +
The MONA cinema in Hobart with its red cross
MONA is owned by an ex-Catholic, who now considers himself an atheist, David Walsh.
A Bone of Fact?
I guess David is more into numbers, science and art than religion and spirituality, which is where his sharp mind lets him down in my opinion ... not so much on religion, but as far as being able to see the spiritual side of life ... or not see it;-)
OK, comparing 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes' to 'Devil' is a bit unfair, because 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes' is a complete train wreck, while 'Devil' does have some redeemable qualities, I think.
I like how the movie starts with an upside-down fly over of Philadelphia (the old capital city of The USA, the city of brotherly love), because in a world  of no gravity, or let me put it another way, in a world where we aren't "grounded" this would be a pretty good depiction of our world that we live on ... unless you believe in the "flat earth theory" that is:-)
If that's the case then, either I'm a shill, or you are a dickhead, and you should probably stop reading this blog before I drag your soul to hell along with mine.
If you haven't guessed yet, I am no fan of the "flat earth theory".
Now one thing that really pisses me off is when people suggest that people who commit suicide end up in hell.
All I can say having attempted suicide about 30 years ago, is that you haven't got a f#cking clue if you think that ... not to say that there might not be a bit of red tape to get through if you do commit suicide ... but as for going to hell?
Grow up and go join the "flat earthers" if you are that mindless.
Oh, by the way, did you see that Colonel Abrams passed away today?
I had never heard of him until today, but his song 'Trapped' rings true to me.
Bit like being "trapped" in an elevator with strangers that make you want to face the front and avoid eye contact, don't you think?-)
I was thinking of the song 'Trapped' that a guy who shares the same birthday as I do sang a cover version of.
Don't you love synchronicity?
Oh, being someone who likes the odd drink without getting in a bar fight or having an AVO slapped on him, I would say because this world is so f#cked up that it drives you to drink, if you really care.
That's way more than half the battle, that's most of the battle.
True, but that ain't because of some kind of lame devil figure is to blame for YOUR mistakes.
But I do agree with the AA motto of "one day at a time", because that is really the only way to live our life, primarily focusing on the now, then on some distant future, or past.
"Give us this day our daily bread and..."?
It's funny to me how various opposing groups claim the lion as their symbol, similar to how they all claim God as theirs only, as well.
I tend to agree with Gandhi when it comes to fundamentalist followers of any religion.
Most of them don't seem to want to use the head and heart that their god gave them.
The movie starts off with a guy committing suicide(?)by jumping from out of a window on the 35th floor of the building where most of the action in this movie will take place.
He lands on top of a bread truck with Rosary beads in his hand ... get it?
"Give us this day our daily bread and..."?
OMG!
An upside-down
red star, or just a red herring?-)
I was thinking that a 2016 re-boot of this movie could really work if it was shot in the right building;-)
Now, that's a re-boot I would go to the cinema and see, and it probably would scare my socks off, too.
Now there is a scary elevator movie that just might work.
And ...
SPOILER ALERT
The devil in the movie 'Devilends up being a little red-haired lady that could probably pass as Donald Trump's mother.
"To promote the movie 'Devil', director M. Night Shyamalan made a humorous parody video for the Internet, taking the premise of the movie, but instead having it take place on an escalator."
I also thought it was interesting that M. Night Shyamalan was born on August 6th, the anniversary of the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima.
Let's hope the time he was born on that day wasn't 8:15am.
"His passion for filmmaking began when he was given a Super-8 camera at age eight, and even at that young age began to model his career on that of his idol, Steven Spielberg."
"Time magazine has denied its Person of the Year cover intentionally gave US President-elect Donald Trump devil horns, after it caused a stir online.
Each year,
Time editors select the person who has most influenced the news and the world in the past year.
This years' Time cover read, "Donald Trump: President of the Divided States of America" and the cover image featured a photograph of the President-elect sitting in his private residence at Trump Tower.
But social media users were quick to note the placement of the letter "M" in the magazine's name directly behind Mr Trump's head.
US comedian Jeremy McLellan posted on Twitter: "Donald Trump may have won Person of the Year, but Time wins Magazine of the Year for using the "M" to give him devil horns."
"

2016?!
Trump Tower?!:-)
