63 Not Out?

I was down at Jupiter's Casino yesterday seeing the Tex Perkins tribute show of Johnny Cash's life and musical career called The Man in Black when I saw this paper headline from the daily Telegraph in the Jupiter's newsagentcy -
"63 Not Out"
The 2:30 pm "The Man in Black" show
 yesterday at
Jupiter's Casino
about the score Phil Hughes was on when he was bowled the ball that would end his life.
I thought about my blogging buddy in the
UK who writes a blog titled -

67 Not Out
Opening scene from Forrest Gump
Mike's blog is usually full of stories of inspirational "coincidences" from relatives who feel that they have been sent a message of comfort (usually in the form of a white feather) from someone close who has passed on.
I couldn't help but think how eerie Mike's blog title would have been if Hughesy had of hit one more 4 before that tragic ball was bowled.
But there are always plenty of "what ifs" to ponder when something like this happens.
And nothing can ease the pain of a young man like Phil passing away like that.
Another sobering thought is today would have been Phil's 26th birthday.
Phillip Joel Hughes
(30 November 1988 – 27 November 2014)
I raise a glass to you and your test career Phil on this melancholy day and think of all of those "what ifs" that could have been.
I expect there would be a few white feathers floating around the SCG and other places today.
Phillip Hughes’ 63 runs the new retiring score for junior cricketers as a salute to the fallen hero
HE will forever be 63 not out. Wearing black armbands, junior cricketers walking out to bat this weekend will be allowed to retire on 63, not the traditional 50, to mark the score Phillip Hughes reached in Tuesday’s Sheffield Shield match before he faced the bouncer which ended his life.

Christmas Beetle/Golden Scarab Sync

I had just watched Forrest Gump the night before last, after hiring it from a local video store, because it was a movie mentioned in Alan G Hunter's book The Path of Synchronicity.
click to make photo bigger
I get to work the next day and am given a box of chocolates for Christmas from a company whose vitamin products we distribute (all of my workmates got a box) from a lady I don't really know named Tina (which is my wife's name ... and she wouldn't give me the time of day, never mind a box of chocolates. My wife that is)
Thanks?
THanks?
Tom Hanks?
And so, at the moment I'm writing a post about the movie and the chocolates and ...

last night while I am trying to get my thoughts together about the "Forrest Gump" post, I hear a scratching sound in the roof above me and the next thing I see and hear is a Christmas beetle forcing its way through the vent holes in my roof (which is a feat in itself) and then it starts flying all around my computer room until I lost sight of it and couldn't find it.

This morning, I found it buried in a pile of papers on my floor which are all related to posts I want to write and things I want to do or see.
It was on top of a flyer for the movie The Vatican Museums 3D and I thought it was dead.
But it must have just been sleeping and started stirring in my hand, so I took it outside and put it in the garden.
This is the first time a "Golden Scarab" has ever burst into my life like this.
Weird experiences everywhere around me this week.

It's funny, because I've been feeling like I'm getting buried in synchronicities lately.
I have about twenty posts I feel need writing, some going back to the
Byron Bay Writers Festival at the beginning of August.

I guess I will just have to let synchronicity guide me along the path, as to which ones I should write and post first?-)
I guess life is like a box of chocolates .... decisions, decisions?

UPDATE: 29th Nov, 2014

I also just realized the chocolates I got had names like Galaxy, Milky Way, Mars, etc.
I also remembered that Dung beetles
(which is what the Egyptians modeled the scarab from) are guided by The Milky Way as well, and while Christmas beetles aren't Dung beetles, they are from the Scarab family still.
So, it was probably the Milky Way chocolates attracting the beetle last night;-)

Tori Amos/Pele Sync

Locals in Pele’s path call her ‘gentle, but so unrelenting
"Pahoa, Hawaii • Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess, moves gradually and persistently as she deposits lava across the
Big Island of Hawaii. People in the small town lying in its path say the lava will reshape the community yard by yard as it slides toward the ocean."
But the daughter of the family's home that was destroyed was remarkably sanguine about losing the family home:
If you're going to live on a volcano, it's about her (the Hawaiian Goddess Pele), not us … if she wants her land back, then get out of the way. I like to call it 'paradise tax'.

I saw Tori Amos play live in Brisbane Friday night (I'm a fan of her music), which was the last show of her Oz tour.
I mentioned that I was going to see her in this post of mine -
To Begin to Know ...
Some of my Tori Amos CDs on my bookshelf
The funny thing though was Tori started her tour of Oz on the 11th of November, the day after the first house in Hawaii was claimed by Pele the volcano goddess.
I presume Tori flew across the Pacific Ocean (past Hawaii) to get to Australia.

Tori singing 'Blood Roses'
in Brisbane Friday night
Also the 11th of November is poppy day (Remembrance Day for all the soldiers killed fighting in all of the wars)
and 'Blood Roses' is off her Album 'Boys for Pele'which she performed in Brisbane on the night.
I saw Tori play the same venue about three years ago, and that time I took my wife along, but all my wife did was get bored and kept asking me when is the concert going to finish.
So going by myself this time round was like getting half price tickets, which meant I could afford one of my favourite beers again from this venue;-)

Sweet Concert on

Wednesday Night

She's a bitter BREW alright;-)
I bought my ticket for right at the back of the concert hall, because unlike all her adoring fans in the front row, I think Tori is an artist who paints the hall with light and sound and her work is best appreciated from afar.
Tori's concerts are a bit like synchronicity, you have to distance yourself a little, so you get to see the bigger picture at work.
If you are too close, you don't see the overall effect of the performance, you just see what is right in front of you with a lot of the show literally going over your head.
Great show from the piano goddess herself, who also happens to be hot stuff playing in the flow;-)

All Stars?

I came across a story on the net about a basketball player who had the "Star of David" tattooed on his left hand.
Is Amare Stoudemire Jewish? Knick Shows Star of David Tattoo, Wears Yarmulke
The synchy thing is when I was about sixteen, I wanted a star tattooed on my hand, not for any other reason than to have a star there to remind me to shoot for the stars.
I was going to have a five-pointed star, but I couldn't draw one properly, so I drew a six-pointed star and liked it and had a tattooist go over it.
I later went back and got it coloured in orange.
My old star tattoo
The trouble was that everyone saw it as a "Star of David
and not just a star and kept asking me if I was Jewish all the time.
And while I didn't get into any real trouble (apart from a butcher who always had a Jewish joke ready for me to hear) when I had it on my hand, I did see the potential trouble it might get me into in the future, so at around about twenty years old I had it removed surgically and still carry the scar today.

"Fire has destroyed the historic Royal Hotel Roma in south-west Queensland. The blaze broke out just before 6:00pm (AEST) on Saturday.
The cause is not yet known but early reports suggest it may have started in the kitchen."

I'll bet the optometrist had the best view in Roma;-)

Cameron: UK must hold firm among global 'warning signs'

""Red warning lights" are once again flashing over the state of the global economy, the prime minister has said.
Speaking after the G20 meeting of world leaders, David Cameron said a "dangerous backdrop of instability" threatened Britain's recovery, and "we should stick to our long-term plan".
In a Guardian article, he warned of the impact from conflicts, low growth and a eurozone "on the brink" of recession.
