Is the Siren Song an Archetypal Swan Song for Our Times Telling Us That We Have Buckley's Chance?

If you have read through Chris Knowles' posts at 'The Secret Sun' blog about Tim Buckley's seemingly cursed song, 'The Song to the Siren' then you probably couldn't help but think something is playing itself out in the deep "Collective Unconscious".
"I Always Felt There was a Prophecy of Death in That Song."
"The swan song is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement.
The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans (Cygnus spp.) sing a beautiful song in the moment just before death, having been silent (or alternatively, not so musical) during most of their lifetime."
Anyway, read through all the posts at the 'Secret Sun' about Tim and Jeff Buckley and the posts about Elizabeth Fraser and keep telling yourself that there is nothing swimming in the waters below it all.

In Australia where I live there is a saying about having "Buckley's chance", which translates as pretty much as having no chance at all.
I'm a bit of an optimist, so I give the world a slightly better chance than Buckley's of making it to safe ground ... but not a great chance, though.
