NYE in Sydney Goes Off with a Bang and a Clanger?

Charlie Pickering says sorry for ‘kill a police officer’ gaffe
Sydney is 18 hours ahead of Denver from early November through mid-March, so at time that Charlie Pickering made his "slip of the tongue" about it being alright to kill a police officer during the countdown to the New Year, pretty much on the other side of the world near Denver, Colorado, five cops had just been shot, one fatally.
Colorado Gunman Shoots 5 Officers Near Denver, One Fatally
"It began as a predawn call for the police to a disturbance at an apartment complex in a Denver suburb on Sunday.
It ended, officials said, in a fusillade of more than 100 rounds fired by a barricaded gunman who shot five law enforcement officers, killing one of them.
The gunman was killed by officers.
Killed in the attack was Zackari Parrish, a 29-year-old deputy who had worked for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for seven months, Sheriff Tony Spurlock said at a news conference on Sunday afternoon.
He described Deputy Parrish as a “smiley kid” who was eager to serve.
He is survived by a wife and two young children."
"At 5:56 a.m., four officers were hit by rounds fired from the bedroom.
Three deputies were able to get to safety, but Deputy Parrish was unable to retreat.
The three wounded deputies could not immediately rescue him because of the amount of gunfire and their injuries, the statement said.
Deputy Parrish was shot multiple times.
The other officers, who were hit in areas uncovered by their protective vests, were in stable condition, the sheriff said."
They say that timing is everything when it comes to comedy, but I guess that goes for synchronicites too, but this time it wasn't funny at all.
And maybe Charlie is feeling like a right Charlie over that gaffe right now?
Another Room 237 Moment? "Je suis Charlie"?
